my garden was better than i expected.  we had an overly rainy and cold spring and early summer, and now a long dry spell, and its getting cold now.  It will be a few years before my soil is built up some with compost.  i've also been working a lot more and not having too much time to care about it.

sept.16 006

green bell peppers give me fits.  i finally harvested one small one on sept 16

time for an update  wish i had more time but i don't  working a full week now at least for the summer, maybe this fall a permanent full time position will become available.

a few photos

jeff and sarah engagement party 001

our oldest, Jeff jr. is finally, i mean, now engaged.  We love sarah and can't wait until both jeff and ben are married and meghan and sarah are officially part of the family.

birds eye vies 008

my awesome garden as seen from the roof of the garage.  it has been a cold and wet summer so far here in maine.  since it is already the middle of july, i now see no hope for a regular summer.  it hasn't even gotten out of the 70's here yet and the nights have sometimes been in the 40's.  as i speak it is another foggy day.

however we have had lots of lettuce, that is what is covered in the first bed.  haha, we made a sunshade for the letttuce!!!! the second bed has brocolli which i just ate some this week, eggplant, which just began to blossom, cucumbers which are just beginning to touch the trellis, and green beans which are also still very small, it goes on to tomatoes, peppers and in the other tunnel, greens.  everything is doing just ok.  the slugs have been a bit of a problem, but not too bad.

in case anyone that doesn't know about my garden is reading this the rectangle beds are all raised cement block capped with patio blocks.  then we used rocks, which we have an unending supply of, to edge the outside beds and the triangle beds are basically made from the hitches left from when the house was brought in and 2x10s. the outhouse is my garden shed that jeff jr. built and jeff sr. finished off.

Fort Point State Park 002

since i take all of the pictures this is the only picture i could  find that was recently taken of me.

bald mountain 001

the other day jeff and i went hiking up bald mnt. and tried to fly paper airplanes off.  it sound crazy, but it was fun.  i think we need grandchildren really bad.

bald mountain 021

this is a view from bald mnt, which is a mile or so from home.  it was a sunny, cloudy day, kind of dull looking.

So this has been our summer so far.  jeff has gotten lots of stuff done around the place, plus he's become a wicked good house-husband!!!!! I've been working in the bakery and complaining, it's been cold and rainy, and i'm almost looking forward to winter so i have an excuse to start up the woodstove.

Working today and feeling a little aggravated..... don't want to feel aggravated.

Yesterday I was off.  We had a lot of errands to run, but after lunch we went for a hike out back on the logging roads.  It was an antler hunt, but we can back empty handed.  This year we haven't found any.  However it was a beautiful afternoon and we had a great hike.

logging road walk 012 the woods are beautiful this time of year--no bugs

I was aggravated this morning because I got less hours next week

Maybe I'll just spend the extra hours in the woods.....................................................................................
